My wife and I were married for over 10 years before we had a kid. I was 40 and my wife was 34.
My cousin is older (in her 60's) and has been married 35+ years and she decided Not to have children because of bad experiences she had growing up.
I can't answer your question because I don't know if you had been abused and are afraid you'd do the same thing to your kid. If That's the reason you don't want children then I can't blame you but I will tell you that having a kid Will change your life. It can be a bi-tch sometimes but there Are great joys also.
Be warned, if you decide Not to have children there Will come a time late in your life where you might seriously regret your decision. I know this because I can see it in the eyes of my cousin when she comes to visit my family.

I do agree. And in fact, it is NOT the social norm anymore, it would seem. In industrialized countries like Japan and Italy, population growth has slowed so much that the countries will soon be shrinking in population. I think that people are much more focused on improving themselves and living life as they see fit. I am undecided personally on the question of having kids (or getting married for that fact). The one thing I do know is that we should not focus on what society tells us is important, but rather draw our own conclusions.

I think you are fine with or without kids!! If you don't feel you are at a point that you want them NO worries you are doing the world a favor by not bring one into this world Love is the most important! If you don't want them you won't love Don't take the chance to let someone go through life without love!!! No one should ever have that lost feeling!!

Who cares about the majority? I know a lOT of people who didn't want kids. My sister and brother in law never wanted any kids, they just have their dogs. It is not weird! It is totally OK, and don't let anyone tell you different. Enjoy your pets, and remember you KNOW what you want, many people do not, have you ever looked at it that way?

I mean you never really know, maybe you are just scared of the big responsibility no offense, try hanging around someone that has kids and if you enjoy it they might be for you. I was never into the whole kid thing but I have a 5 month year old and trust me it changes everything....I wouldn't trade him in for the world....Pets are great though.......

I agree, I don't want to have kids either. I know it is not a popular choice but there are a few of us out there who are living fulfilling, and joyful lives without kids. So don't sweat it and enjoy yourself. You have made an excellent choice.

Everyone is free to make their own decisions. I have had a hard enough time trying to convince everyone that I only want to have one baby. Next time someone says that your not normal or you are too young to make that decision, just let them know that's their choice for themselves and leave you be to make your own choices....Not everyone has to have kids!

I agree kids are not for everyone. I think it is great that you know what you want. If this is really how you feel don't let anyone sway you from it. Stick to your guns.

You sound like you're childfree. The term refers to people who don't want kids, but feel like nothing is missing from their lives because of that. I know the term because I'm childfree too. Millions of people are.

I agree with you 150%!!!! I never had any children. And I not sorry about it either!! I lived long enough and heard enough about ungrateful children,I'm not sorry at all. You are better off with pets(I have always have had dogs). They don't need clothes, they don't smart mouth you,and they don't take your car. You don't have to worry about them getting drunk or using drugs.
