When people say that misery loves company, it usually means that those who are down would prefer others are down too.
However, the best way to escape misery is to be in situations of joy and happiness.
Try to get out and force yourself to be around happy people, or in happy places. I know at first, it only makes us more depressed because its sickening to us to see others happy when we are not (misery loves company)- but eventually, that positive and happy environment will rub off on us.
As difficult as it may seem, if we are sad, or depressed- we actually are choosing to be that way. Believe me, I thought it was a crock too, but when I practiced being happy, I became happy.
It is a reprogramming we must do to escape these feelings for good.

"misery loves company" is something people say when one person is complaining or being rude, etc.
It's a way of discounting or dismissing the hurtful things someone is saying, by implying that they are just bitching because they themselves are unhappy. This has nothing to do with you.
I don't believe that you can pull yourself out of relationship hurt. Letting go is a gradual process and it takes time. The best thing you can do is be realistic-which you have by acknowledging that the relationship is over for good.

No it just changes your perception.
Infact is is not advisable to start a new relationship very soon after a breakup. Since one is very conscious about everything one is doing. Tries to be extra careful and messes things up.
So relax, wait and get involved in some creative activities like painting, cooking new dishes, sports etc.
'When you are feeling down, just cool down. It will lift you up.'

As in any other human social context we search for those who understand what we understand is knowledge. There is strength is numbers and strength for us with those who stand with us. 'Misery' as a word is ambiguous, but its meaning lacks aggressiveness, positive futurism. WHY are you miserable. Is it because you have not sorted and answered all the questions including yourself and your ex.. Are you in a condition of self doubt. Are you so ego centric that you can not doubt yourself? Or do you doubt humanity so much that you think there is no hope for you out there, no help, no new knowledge, new people. Are all other kinds of social relations worthless.
You are not misery, you are human and humans love company. So stop pacing the circle and go out and get your business done.

Misery does love company. So it's better to spend time alone keeping busy or to seek out positive people who won't allow misery to last long.

I don't know about that... I prefer to be alone to lick my wounds.
Eventually the pain of the breakup with your ex-boyfriend will lessen. You know that's true. In the meantime, give yourself so much time per day to carry on about it and then go and do something that takes all of your concentration.

yes It us true
From my own experience. When I am down like really down I attract the wrong kind of people in my life very negative which make it worse. Now if I am up and doing great and full of life I attract allot of positive people.
That is my experience

times like these are the most crucial. learn the pain, the anguish, but don't regret. let it teach you things, let it make you a better person. in the mean time, go to a gym, take up dancing lessons something to keep the mind occupied, don't sulk in it.

Go find someone else who's miserable ... fall in love and do it all over again. It'll give you something to do until the right one comes along.
