it means that life without cares, or responsibilites, or knowledge of suffering, is much easier to deal with. look back to childhood, it was mostly much happier because you didn't fully understand what was going on, and you didn't have to feel the guilt and stress that adults go through. Knowledge is power but it is also a burden. be happy that u didn't even know what this phrase meant.

It means some things are better not known about. For example, let's say you were out eating at a restaurant, and the cooks sweat fell into your food and was cooked into it. The high temps would destroy an potential harmful thing that may be in the cook's sweat, and you, if you didn't know about it, could go on and eat and enjoy your meal. But, if you saw the sweat fall into your food, high temps and all, could you enjoy your food. I think not...ignorance is bliss.

When one is ignorant of something they never know the benefit of that something and are therefore blissful in their state of ignorance.

Kinda' like the small town complex. If the big city next door is doing something usually the small town 60 miles away will never know about it, but they do just fine ....not knowing.

Everything is great until you know about something bad.

Think about how good you felt on a day when something bad happened, or before you found out that something bad had happened. You were "blissfully unaware" - it's the knowledge of something bad that fills the space that was empty and blissful before you knew about that something.

Same principle as "what you don't know, can't hurt you".
You're probably thinking of "ignorant" as the way that middle school students use it. Ignorance means you don't know something (from the word "ignore"). THE LESS YOU KNOW THE LESS WORRIES YOU HAVE

You do not worry about what you do not know.
You can claim you did not know there was homeless, children were starving or people in another country were being murdered & that gives you the ability to be carefree.
Even smaller things like your boyfriend is cheating, if you do not know then you do not have to decide whether to dump him.

ok say that the whole world knows your boyfriend is cheating on you, but you never know and he eventually stops cheating and stays with you, its better to never know what he did, its happier to think he always cared so much for you, without testing the other women for himself. being ignorant of some things is happier than knowing the truth.

They mean that when you just form an opinion because someone else says so and dont think for yourself, and live in your happy little world still... you are blissfully ignorant (dumb and happy).

For example: having a war go on and yet not knowing who the president is or who their own state govenor is and their opinion on it....
