Many saw Kennedy as the ideal president. He had a great family, he was young, and willing to step on on a limb to fight for what is right. But were the issues such as Bay of Pigs, Civil Rights, and Vietnam of interest to him? Or was he working more towards a utilitarian society. Just wanted to throw this question out to understand him more. I personally think he was a great president who was willing to help everyone. But many historians do agree. Let me know what you think!

He died great. Some say a way of life died with him. Believe it actually died in 1968...

He certainly WAS tackling some issues in an unprecedented way...
despite his father he seemed to be going after corruption and organised crime.

Some in his cabinet agree that he was going to start disengaging from Vietnam and fulfill FDR's promise to the Vietnamese. Otherws feel he would have jumped in with both boots on(carpet bombing targets in the North until winning). Either would have had dramatic effects on world history.

Domestically he would never survive today's news reporting and politicking... the sex thingy BUT for sure in those days it would be a non-story.

Civil rights, Vietnam, OC, or just Texas politics may have been the trigger that did him in... but as having the assasin killed by another severely limits any inquiries so we'll never know...

Whether he would have been the BEST president.

I personally believe that he learned some important lessons with his crew in WW2. And as part of his deal with God was trying to deliver on those beliefs. And that always gets you killed.

Kennedy didn`t want Vietnam to happen thus some people think thats why he was killed from the state Johnson was from. Johnson and others knew that war brings money and Kennedy didn`t want this. Big conspiracy on the whole thing. Go to this web sight ( www.NEEDTOKNOW.INFO) and read how that back in the 60`s how the U.S. was going to train Cubans to fly jets into buildings so the goverment could keep the public at bay. This web site also goes over the 9/11 conspiracy and how our goverment was warned about the attacks but ingnored it. Go to the web sight and the 60 page report start at about 2 months before the attacks. This is all based on facts!! Even the part about the goverment teaching Cubans to fly jets into buildings.

Kennedy's presidency was probably pretty standard stuff, except for his decision to start cutting back on the CIA's covert activities, which he may have blamed for the Bay of Pigs, etc, etc. Kennedy was also looking to reduce the power of the military industrial complex in this country. We currently sacrifice $459 Billion annually to this monster. How about just using the $59 Billion to fix New Orleans?? Our nearest competitor, Russia spends about $100 Billion for their defence.

Back to Kennedy. In my own opinion our Republic was taken from us with their assassination of Kennedy. We all know that there was a their behind the assassination, but LHO makes it so much easier for us to stick our heads in the sand.

What a great question!!! I can only partially answer. There have been two Presidents since I could vote that I could really believe in. I mean really, deep down in my heart, believe in. They were Kennedy and Reagan. I've remained a democrat for 46 years but have never felt as motivated and full of love for my country since the years under K and R.

We have found that like many great "eras", it had it's flaws. The media chose to focus on the good during the Kennedy administration while they focus on the bad during the Bush.

JFK stood up to the Soviets and the racists. It is also possible that he was rethinking 'Nam.
