okay these are pet rats and arent for food...just thought i would say that for whomever posted the comment good luck snake food..feeding ratlets to snakes is a disgusting activity and cruel..it should be banned and made illegal.

i kno snakes must eat, but they can eat dead rats, they dont have to have them alive...the ratlets can feel too, and have just as much right to live as snakes do...

um i dont kno how to reply to people without adding here so i guess thats what i will do...for the last person that answered scariespuds or somehting i am breeding simpily because i love my rats and i want more...i dont plan on giving them away...and i dont have any problem with space as my males and my females have their own rattie rooms and are never in cages unless i am taking them somewhere and then when i am cleaning their rooms and have to remove the door blockers to get it done right...i wont even consider giving them to petshops, as i dont agree with feeder rats and kno that is what they go for mostly when at petstores...i go to petfinder weekly and actually adopted three dumbo females nad two dumbo boys from there just last week..the girls arrived two days ago and the boyz wil come in three to four weeks when they are weaned...i have seven rats here but own nine....and also they were properly introbuced..and are doing nicely with each other now..thanks for replyin tho!

They should not be fighting, they will probably wrestle a little for dominance but if there is actual fighting you should seperate them. Have you taken the time to introduce them properly or just put them in the cage togeather? If you just put the rats in the cage togeather that could be why they are fighting. You can leave them in the cage togeather for a day to make sure that the breeding took. I am just curious why you are breeding though, they can have up to 21 babies at a time, if you end up with 10 males and 11 females then you have to have 2 20 square foot cages just for the babies. If you are planning on giving them away keep in mind that alot of people tend to back out once you actually have the babies. Also if your plan is to give or sell them to a petstore (if you can find one that will take them, the larger chains petco and petsmart generally will not) then be aware they may go for food. If you are just wanting more rats then petfinder.com http://search.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi has a ton of available homeless rats, you can search by your zipcode. With as many homeless rats there really is no reason to breed. Good Luck.

Yes,thats the flirting, courtship phase.Shes playing hard to get.Rats are very prolific so youll get a litter.Just have seperate quarters available for the kids when weaned or they will breed at about 8 wks old
