I have to write a pretend speech while assuming I am an oxygen atom that began the year in an 02 molecule, then spent time in a water molecule, then time in a hydroxide ion and in carbonic. What chemical reaction would I experience and which other molecules might I meet on the way?

you can meet your friends, the hydrogen atoms, and mate with them, forming water molecules. You can hold on each other with other water molecules through your friends' hand, the hydrogen and also through yourselves, because as an oxygen atom you have free electrons. Then you could break your relation with your friend, hydrogen, making you become hydroxide ion (OH-) and you have charge now (negative one, so it is not good to have conflict with your friend, he he he). Or if you think better, you don't to break your friendship, but you can search more friends, with carbon dioxides (CO2). Mating with makes your relation even bigger, now you become big molecules of carbonic acid (H2CO3)

You should write a speech about how your teacher is a f*cking idiot for giving you such useless assignments that take up a lot of your time but are of little educational value.

If you don't like that suggestion, try this:

Write about how you were floating around in the atmosphere next to the various gasses that make up the air, you encountered another oxygen atom and formed ozone. Then, you got sick of the oxygen, and ditched him, and became 02 again. You were then inhaled by a mouse, passed down its trachea and into its lungs, where you entered an alveolus. You were then sucked into the blood stream, where you got stuck to a hemoglobin molecule inside a red blood cell. You traveled around the body, and was then pushed into a liver cell, and into the mitochondria, where you got to witness the electron transport chain in action. At the end of the chain, you were split in half and stuck with two hydrogen molecules where you then became a water molecule. You were expelled from the cell, carried through the blood stream to the renal arteries and into a glomerulus, where you were passed into the Bowman's capsule and traveled down through the loop of Henle, watching some of your fellow water molecules being taken back up into the body. You were one of the unlucky ones, and got sent yet further into the collecting duct and into the ureter. You also watched some sodium, chloride, and potassium ions get taken back up into the blood stream. You traveled down the ureter and into the bladder, out the urethra, and were evacuated as part of the urine.

O2 + 2H2 -> 2H2O. H2O -> H+ + OH-. H2O + CO2 -> H2CO3.
