the conflict between time's erosion of all things, and, yes, the hubris of the titular character. in other words, ozy thought he was so great that his magnificent works would always be around to dazzle passers by, but not even the whole of his statue remains, due to the action of time (and sand). this shows that the man was an ***, short sighted, and high on himself, whereas time, death, and decay are more powerful than any man.
