Well how about that. In case you didn't know war is big business and has been since people started killing each other with spears and bows and arrows.
..
All modern technology has done is make weapons of mass distruction available to anyone who has the money or motivation to get it.

These are not by any means the most violent years. In the last century, millions were killed in the Western Front of WWI, and a short time later millions more were killed in WWII.
As a percentage of the population, probably even more were killed during the Mongol invasions, the religious wars in the Middle Ages, and the Spanish conquest of the Americas..
The violence we see now is a pittance compared to earlier centuries. Relatively minor border conflicts or civil disorder make headline news. In previous centuries, mass execution or enslavement were regular parts of life for the vast bulk of humanity.

I have to go with the guy who said Genghis Khan was brutal. Modernity and violence go together just like the past and violence. There will always be improvements in technology and there will always be war. People just can't get a long.

Ghengis Khan was a little on the brutal side. Maybe his cell phone had bad coverage?
In other words, your statement is mind-numbingly random at best.

Humanity and violence are compatible.
Modernity just means people have more sophisticated ways of killing people.
