I have had knee and ankle problems since a 8th grade field day and i also am a dancer and cheerleader. i went to the doctor and all he said was that it is because of dance and i just needed therapy adn lifts for my shoes. over the past year they have gotten worse. i can only wear one type of shoes adn those are my tennis shoes. And even sometimes my knees and ankles will hurt after i wear those. the pain in my knee varies from day to day. some days it will hurt on the side and then some all over and then some on the outside. same goes for my ankle. Do I need to go to the doctor again or try adn deal with it? Or any other suggestions?

Find another doctor, one who doesn't suck. The doctor you visited probably didn't much care about you.

Talk to your doctor about maybe visiting an orthopedist, which is a specialist who deals with bone and joint issues. He may be able to refer you to one.

If you are in that much pain, you need to see another doctor, better yet an orthapedic doctor who works with joints and all that fun stuff or a physiotherapist.

You need to keep in mind though, if you are a dancer/cheerleader, your legs are going to ache from time to time. Maybe you need to work out more often and strengthen the muscles in your legs.... The only person that can really answer that is a doctor/physiotherapist

Hello,
I presume that you are a young girl and do a lot of dancing. This is likely to lead to overuse problems under your knee cap or patella. Your Knee cap may have a tendency to maltracking at the lower end of your thigh bone. Moreover wearing high heels for dancing makes the problem worse as your knee cap is then stressed more.
I suggest that you see a good Physiotherapist. YOu could use ICE to relieve acute pain and do some quads exercises.

Try an orthopedic specialist rather than your regular doctor.
