I am almost six months pregnant and my Insurance will not pay for my gender ultrasound. My mother said she knew she was having a girl when she was pregnant with me because her belly was round and she would always put on her make-up. So I want to find out other theories if the baby is going to be a girl or a boy from other experienced mothers or from known facts.

Every little "way to tell if its a boy or girl" has said I am having a boy....

three ultrasounds later, I am certainly having a girl!!!! Nothing was right at all for me! I carry low, it looks like a basketball and not a watermelon, chinese gender predictor said boy, "maternal instincts" said boy from day 1.....

I am certainly NOT having a boy. You can pay 100 bucks to go get an ultrasound done in your area. Just google "3D ultrasound" followed by what ever state you live in. It's definitly worth it!

The only one of the old wives tales that has seemed to have any medical backing is the one that says you are having a girl if you have terrible morning sickness, and even that seems to be hit or miss based on all the mommies I know. Some doctors in Sweden theorize that the extra estrogen makes the mother sicker than if she were carrying a boy. Other than that, all the other old wives tales are bunk.

I've carried high for 8 months, had acne problems, and the baby has a high heart rate, and he is most definately a boy. This is after one 2D ultrasound at 20 weeks and another 3D ultrasound at 29 weeks.

That does suck about not being able to get an ultrasound! You get to have a surprise baby. Some mommies really enjoy the surprise right after all the hard work of labor and delivery. Maybe invest in lots of unisex clothes...? Best of luck!

They usally dont give an ultrasound Just to find out the sex of the baby, you should have one in the 5 or 6 month for other medical reasons. I dont believe in any of the theories, like belly shape, face shape, hanging strings etc. Just take a guess, you have a 50/50 chance of being right
Good Luck, Congrats!

I am sorry- insurance can be a bugger about ultrasounds. I would think they would have to do one at some point before delivery to ensure the baby is not in a breech position. You may want to ask about that.

As far as knowing without the test- sorry. I have heard so many different theories on how to tell, and they all have a 50% chance of being correct, that I wouldnt recommend putting your faith into any of them.

the only way to know for sure is with ultrasound etc. All the "if your stomachs doing this its a so and so" and if you eh 'make the baby' in a certain position it will be a certain sex are just harmless superstitions and old wives tales. I was told that because I was carrying high my baby would be a girl... needless to say, I had a boy lol.

Ask your doctor about other tests, besides ultrasounds and amino tests, I think there is one more, a urine test. But the results are not 100%. I will say that I knew from day one that I was having a boy (and I am :) only 3 weeks to go!!!!!) I just knew, my mom's first baby was a boy, both my grandmothers first children were boys, it just seemed natural....Good luck!!

Don't believe in the theories!!! They will only get your hopes up! The only true way to know is an ultrasound and there only about 80% acurate. If you want to know that bad, get an ultrasound done, here they are only $40.

For some reason I always heard older people say if someone's stomach is low for their pregnancy they are having a boy. Not sure if it is true but that is what I hear. An ultrasound is always accurate

There are all sorts of "ways" but they're not reliable. One is hanging your wedding ring by a string or a chain over your belly and it will swing either left to right or front to back and that's supposed to determine the sex, but I think that's ca-ca. My ex-husband could tell by being close to the pregnant woman and feel "vibes". He was usually right too.

ultrasound is always best, but, my mother told me that, if your stomach is shaped like a football it's a boy and if it's round it's a girl.
