Ok my Hubby is a truck driver, he is three hours away at the moment and isn't due home though until morning. On Friday I lost my mucous plug. Ok, it SEEMED to me that I lost pretty much what I WOULD have thought all of it was, then I took a bath tonight and I lost more. My due date is tomorrow, I have my 3 year old son here and our WHOLE family and friends are out of town for Labor day Weekend......... Do you think I would be over reacting to ask my Hubby to come home tonight? I have a LOT of lower back pain right now but nothing that I would catorgorize as being even CLOSE to my contractions with my first. What do you think I should do?

Call your husband NOW....even if it's a false alarm, I think you would feel a great deal better knowing he is nearby, especially since you could start labor at any moment. You also need someone realiable to take care of your son while you go about the business of bringing a new little life into this world...you don't need the extra worry! Every pregnancy is different, so don't necessarily judge your body's reactions by your first one...lower back pain could be back labor, or it can just be a stress induced tightrening of the muscles. In any case, I think now is the time for hubby to be sticking close to home. :) Take care, and good luck!

Loosing your mucous plug is usually a sign of labor. Since this is your second baby, you might need to call your hubby, just for a heads up. If your back pain worsen or your water breaks, you need to be seen by the doctor. How long was your first labor? Also the intensity of the back pains are determined by how the infant is positioned. Facing your back or your front. When in doubt go to Labor and Delivery and get checked out.

I think it would be fine. I had the same thing happen to me with my first. My hubby was driving a truck and was also 3 hours away. I felt that I was going in to labor in the evening, but knew he was supposed to be home the next afternoon, so I tried to ignore the pain and go to bed. I ended up having to have my sister in law call him first thing in the morning and he had to go through all kinds of crap to get home where if I had called him the night before he could have gotten home a lot easier. If you think you're in labor...don't hesitate to call. He wil lunderstand!

after losing the mucus plug it can take anywhere from 1 day to 1 week for you to go into labor. You might want to let your husband know what is going on and call the hospital labor and delivery department and ask them since it is a holiday weekend and the doctors are closed. Good Luck and have tons of fun with that new addition.

Sure, call him home. Just because this isn't the way it was with your first baby doesn't mean that it isn't labor. Each labor can be different. All 3 of mine were. Anyway, when you're this close to your due date you do not need to be alone, especially with just your little guy. If you should go into hard labor, what would you do without him home? Congratulations on your new baby.

First of all (don't panic but...) you shouldn't be taking a bath once you lose your mucus plug. So stop that. I think you are probably fine, but I personally would call my hubby. Otherwise you will be nervous and upset about the prospect of going into labor without him there.

Take a deep breath, call him, have a cup of tea, and try to get some sleep. Good luck, and congrats on your new baby!

I lost my plug about three days before I had my daughter. If you have no one to watch your son you may want to have your husband come home. If you lost your plug you know that it will be soon especially if you are having back pain. I don't know if you had back labor for your first but that may be the start of your labor pain as they can be all in your back. Mine were in my back for my first and in my stomach for my second. Typically your second child and birth will be quicker and easier than the first . You may want to call him and at least have him start home. Better safe than sorry as your son would probably freak out if you had to go to the hospital and daddy wasn't home. Plus it might just stress you out more until he gets home. With him being home you might just relax and then your baby could come before you know it. Good Luck to you and your family and I hope that he gets home to take care of all you soon.

If he could, I would call and say you would feel alot better if he was home now. Being so close to delivering, taking care of a 3 year old, everyone out of town, and having loist your plug- its ok for you to ask. Tell you him you need him there, that you would feel so much better to have him home. And when he gets there, reward him with big kisses, and get some sleep! You will need that rest later!=) good luck!
