I honestly doubt that anyone is going to solve the problem. There are so many ways it could be answered.
Questions like this are deliberately left open to people's interpretations as to how to solve them. For instance, do they want you to solve each equation and then add those numbers to the total sum?
I'm sat here right now with the television on, and it's showing the same problem. How do you think these companies make their money? It costs 75 pence for each person to phone in, and then there's no guarantee that you'll get put through to the studio with your answer.
If I were you, mo, I'd forget about answering. You're likely to be out of pocket ... unless you're the lucky one who gives the correct answer, of course.
Actually, that same problem has been on TV for the last week, at least. Isn't it surprising that no-one has yet managed to come up with the correct answer?

Its a pity they had to resort to certain other Quiz like cons, until then at least their games were reasonable, but when they've given a lot of money away they throw in a question like this just because they know no-one will get it right, Its been on in the region of about 30-35 hours now. I successfully answered one from a Sky quiz live a long time ago and that boiled down to having to look for roman numerals within the numbers. E.G Nineteen There is 9 (part of NINEteen), 19, & 1 (the i) Minus has M (1000) i (1) and Mi (1001) Five has 5, I (1) v (5) iv (4) Thus within that there is a potential 9 + 19 +1 + 1000 + 1 + 1001 + 5 + 1 + 5 + 4 = 2046 and then you get the answer of 14 to be added. Then 4 + 3 x 2 is nicely left so it can be TWO answers, the scientific mathematical answer which is 10 thus 4 + (3x2) or the non scientific answer 14 from 4 + 3 (=7) x 2 = 14 and remember to both of these you could have to add 4 & 3 & 2, therefore giving answers of 10 + 9 = 19 or 14 + 9 = 23 As for 6 - 5, this equals 1, seems obvious, but again who knows whether you had to add the 6 and 5, therefore could have answers of 1 or 12 (I can't see anything else there) My expectation is the answer will be about 2100, normally sky quiz would give a hint near the end of the show (E.G between 2100 and 2075) allowing me from there to solve it, but I'm willing enough to bet this will crop up for the nexy few months, the unfortunate part is the people that constantly phone in with the same obvious (and yet just as ligitimate) answers.

The question is deliberately ambiguous because the programme makers want as many people as possible to ring without having to give away any prize money, at least until they have gained enough revenue to cover their salaries, production costs and the prizes. After all – it is a business. You will also notice that at the end of the quiz, if the correct answer has not been given, they simply remove the puzzle without giving the solution like they do for the word puzzles, thereby preserving their method of calculation.
1.Logically, the correct answer should be:
19 – 5 = 14 plus 4 + 3 x 2 = 10 plus 6 – 5 = 1 giving a total of 25
2.However, they could be ignoring the mathematical convention of order of operations in the second equation making it in effect 4 + 3 = 7 x 2 = 14 giving the total 29
3.But, nineteen and five are not numbers, they are words which represent numbers and so could be being ignored in their question, making it: 4 + 3 x 2 = 10 plus 6 – 5 = 1 giving 11 or indeed, 15 if you take method (2) above
4.Alternatively, if you simply add all the numbers stated together without completing any equations, i.e. 19, 5, 4, 3, 2, 6, 5 this would give 44
5.Although, mathematically speaking, the sign is owned by the number following it, therefore, this would be 19, -5, 4, 3, 2, 6, -5 = 24
6.Also, in both of these last two cases, they could be ignoring the nineteen and five as non-numbers again, giving totals of 20 and 10 respectively
7.Or taking the nineteen as the single-digit numbers 1 and 9, giving totals of 35 and 15 for methods (4) and (5) respectively
So, ten different two-digit answers: 25, 29, 11, 15, 44, 24, 20, 10, 35 and 15 depending on how you interpret the question, but I suspect these are all just red herrings designed to stack the odds more heavily in their favour.
‘Add the numbers’ could also mean placing them together in sequence as one eight-digit number i.e. 19,543,265. There are actually 5,040 permutations of seven numbers selected this way or 40,320 if you take 1 and 9 separately as in method (7).
If you ignore the benefit of being able to discount the answers given by other contestants, because equally, you might just miss someone giving the answer you are thinking of, adding up all the possibilities gives you a 1 in 40,330 chance of choosing the right answer. Multiply this by the number of times you may have to ring before the computer ‘randomly’ selects you to go on hold for the studio and then selects one of those, randomly again, to speak to the presenter and you can see that the odds of winning could be approaching those of winning the National Lottery, but for a much reduced prize. Good isn’t it?

The question does not ask you to regard operants, so 6+5+4+3+2=20. This could be the answer (though I have an idea it has already been supplied). However if you take the question literally, then you would add the three instances of the figure 1 which appears in the text of the first line, making the answer 23. Then again there are the Roman numerals M X and V contained in the question. I will leave you to work these out if the idea interests you - I will not be playing myself as I think the TV game is a game of luck with unknown odds even before you are selected to go on hold.

Hun that has been running for months now! I swear by the time the answer comes round everyone would have forgotten all the answers that were said! It'll be an answer that was said. Or it'll go on so long they'll just say forget it? Because they don't have any more possible answers that weren't said? That very puzzle is the one that rakes the money in!
Have you noticed how hardly anyone calls at the beginning? (that's to get people wasting enough money so they can give the prize money to someone out of the money callers have made up) THEN most of the time, the first call is dodgy (giving them more time to rake in money from callers wasting their money) There's nothing wrong in that, it's just it's crafty why not tell us "we need to make the money first so get calling!"? Rather than lying? I'd prefer honest when it comes to that.
I used to love that show! I still do because of the guests but otherwise it's a kind of con! I've tried so many combinations but I've given up now! There are so many possible answers due to interpretation and most of the callers are going over answers already said!

It is 25 but once again these money spinners have few tricks up there sleeves so that it isnt answered too soon.It is limitless the amount of answers that could be.I feel sorry for people who cant really afford the phone calls and run up bills because they are hooked which is really how it works. They dont actually give anything away the people that phone in build up the bank.Dont play,by phone at least. Notice how long these multi answer questions go on and with a bit of research they can have hundreds of answers and just edit the list. They do give the odd correct answer to keep you hooked. The so called stars on these programmes should be ashamed.

As others have said these TV quizzes are designed to deceive. Start with the first line. Is the answer they want a number at all or just letters which will not add to the others ? Are they using standard mathematical ordering convention ? You assume they want you to add the answers but the questions says add the numbers, and do you in fact need to solve the questions at all ? .Like all gambling companies, these TV ones are very profitable so I suggest you pass and keep your money in your pocket...
