Unfortunately, I am fast believing that there isn't a "silent majority" of Muslims. Nor am I inclined to keep believing that Islam is a peaceful and tolerant religion.
The outrage you are speaking off occurs when anyone questions their beliefs - or publishes cartoons depicting Mohammad's turban in the shape of a bomb - it isn't forthcoming when the Islamic terrorists kill innocent men, women and children or video tape beheadings of innocent captives.
The Islamic councils would not even issue a condemnation of suicide bombings when asked to do so by the United Nations.
Actions do speak louder than words.

interesting question. well i am a muslim and let me tell you.
believe me when i say i hate these extremists more than you do becaust they make the rest of us look bad.
But with america (and the rest of the wests actions) in attacking a country like iraq which had nothing to do with "terrorism" or 9/11 or WMD's, the lines become blurred.
Still, check almost any Islamic site and they will all denounce terrorism with verses from the quran to prove their point. Furthermore, you are forgetting that most of these extremists are captured with the assistance of other muslims in the muslim countries (saudi arabia and pakistan).
But another issue here for the majority of muslims is whether they should cooperate with facist, autocratic governments like those of pakistan and KSA (who are supported by the US, whilst democratically elected one like palestine's are rejected).
Bottom line, if the US wanted to win the war on terror they should stop this hypocricy, and find out WHY people dont like them.

They have assumed the Liberal stance they can't see or hear because of the fact their heads are stuck so far up their @sses.
Or because they agree with the Nazislamo fascist so we will never hear from "peace loving" Muslims. There are none.
Pieces of fecal matter but, no Peace

Yes the majority of muslims are silent peace loving and most of them live in rural areas. They are farmers, traders, home made producers and services deliverers. They have least opportunity for reading islamic newspapers. They work everyday and only once a week on Friday get together in the mosques. They discuss their own interest in everyday life such as the increase price of fertilizer, the disease of their crops and how to handle it.
They do not want to discuss other's wrong doings. In line with Islamic teaching, talking others'mistakes whether it was a fact or it was only a rumour, they will get sins.
They hate terrorism, but they could not stop it.They have no power. to do that. They are afraid to discuss it in a public speech. They can only talk in their hearts, how are thei.r feelings. Most of muslims are loyal to their government. They hope the governmant will handle the terrorism properly.
Most of them are weak in economy and they consider themselves have no right to discuss politics. They have a representative in parliament,so they hope their representatives will do everything for sake of their interest...

They are farming, living, worshipping in peace and love. The truly smart ones have already figured out that getting involved in politics is a dead horse that ain't gonna race, and the oil companies have too much power for the peaceful people to fight against through normal channels. It's always about the oil prices, not religion.
