It all depends. They do pay better than most retail jobs when you start out (9 dollars an hour usally), but that can change easily. There is a SPH (sale per hour) that you must meet and if you come even slightly short they will cut your pay (up to and usally .80). There are reviews every 6 month to decide whether you get cut or a raise. I was cut on my first review but got a raise on my second so I am back at 9 an hour.
Also, the SPH cause a lot of competition between employees and thus a lot of drama (especially when its all women like in my dept). People will steal your sales and will only concentrate on selling. Thus they will not help you clean (which is what I have a problem with since I am one of the few people who clean) and they also have problems with helping with markdowns and stock and when they do help a lot of people do a crappy job.
Overall the company is fine its just that the SPH causes too much drama sometimes. Also a lot of whether it is a good place to work all depends on the managers. In my opinion my store manager is not great, he likes to prove that he has the power. However my ASM (area sales manager) is wonderful!!! She is the only reason why I still work at Dillard's because she is always happy and smiling. She lets me work and leaves me alone and isn't picky about ever single thing. She is also great at working around my school schedule. However, she is the exception at my Dillard's, I probably wouldn't of stayed for any other manager.
So overall I wouldn't totally not recommend working for Dillard's. However be sure you are easy going and are able to let it go if someone steals your sale or else you are going to be in for a lot of drama. I feel that it is good enough pay to deal with for the next year until I graduate.

No. I put in an application there a couple of years ago. They pay you more on commission that anything. If you don't make a quota of sales they pay you less than minimum wage. Run girl,,,,,Run far and run fast.. McDonald's pays better.

I loved it when I worked there. They even provide benefits for part time employees.

If you like a racist organization that pays its workers a little less than a living wage, sure.
