Some very good feedback.
Yes I am aware that we are NOT OPEC but we do have the ability to via several means to effect prices(both above board and politcal board)
Interested in views and if the views are held by voters etc... 'Who said that?' And 'boo' without warning just being mean!

Yes aware of additional factors and the fact that the day after Katrina prices went up... BEFORE actual events 'clogged pipelines'.
Realize speculation in oil futures have an effect(most large securities holders hitting it as it gaurantees good returns without risk- always a tasty proposition)
Yes enviro laws causes a few pennies more and govt taxes ARE in dollars... but that is fairly old and established(although new taxes that were to go into effect here have been rescinded) WHICH still leaves that decrease thingy...
To be fair I snuck three questions into one... Thanks for those all who answered on two or all three.
I hope to see the fifteen year old's vote registered in three years.

apparantly our two parties are one... with no real ideas or plans for the future except for reelection.
Don't know if that scarier or the fact that most people don't care either way.

One of the analysts on Fox News earlier today said exactly the same thing.
It could be due, in part, to the softness in the oil market this last week but they typically go up immediately with a crude price rise and fall far after a drop in crude. So maybe there is a political component. One of the other analysts speculated that it was the combination of the drop in crude and higher than expected inventories.
Registered voter, of course.
Who to vote for? I don't see anyone I like at this point.

Gas prices have historically gone down in the 90 days preceding elections. As a matter of fact they have historically gone down in the 90 days prior to November 1st. Why? Because the summer travel season now ends the 3rd week of August and stations are no longer required to use special (nore expensive) summer blends of fuel used to combat smog.
It's really the other way. Because of increased driving during the summer AND some good environmental laws we pay more for summer gasoline rather than "It gets cheaper in August/September".
I have voted since able to: Clinton, Clinton, Gore, Bush (only because Kerry was a Massachusetts rich guy who knew even less than Bush does about living the average life the rest of us do.
In the next election I will vote for the best candidate. I like John McCain, I like John Edwards. I do not like Hillary, but really want a woman in the WH, but would like to see an AA too!

The government does not control oil prices.
OPEC sets prices per barrel, and then oil companies base their prices off that. Usually the oil companies have inflated prices due to speculation (a terrorist might attack a pipleline, hurricanes will disrupt production, etc.)
The current hurrican season has been much weaker than expected, so prices began dropping.
The government does not set oil prices.
I am a registered voter, and I do not know who I will vote for yet. I will not vote for Hillary Clinton, though.

No, you aren't paranoid.
I was thinking about it too...
Kinda ironic that it has NOT been in the news, huh??
I am NOT a registered voter currently, as I am in hiding.
**** EDIT ADD IN ****
The US DOES have some control over the pricing of fuel.
And, 10 cents??? 10 cents different??? Where in the world are YOU living girl???
HERE, the price went from $2.84 a gallon to $2.53 a gallon. THAT is a difference on 31 cents a gallon. IF the average consumer purchases 12 gallons:
$2.84 a gallon X 12 gallons = $34.08
$2.53 a gallon X 12 gallons = $30.46
A difference of $3.62. (Which could get you OVER an additional gallon.)

Even if it's a result of OPEC, they're all in bed together and they still want to enslave everyone, even the people on Answers who support Bush. As a matter of fact, if you think about it, Bush supporters are already enslaved.
I damn near voted for Bush last time, to spite the Democratic Party in Arizona, who kicked Ralph Nader off the ballot. It really pissed me off. Nevertheless, I voted for Kerry, even though I thought he was a little goofy. Anything to keep that ignorant ***, who should've been out hunting with Cheney that day, out of OUR White House.
Who knows who I'll be voting for, since I would be voting for Corporate America no matter what anyway...
I know the Bush family is the worst of the lot, not so much that they thought up all this disastrous stuff, but with their heads up their asses, they let pinheads like Cheney run things.
Cheney still thinks of Rumsfeld as his boss, and Bush thinks of Cheney as HIS boss, and Rumsfeld thinks of Bill Kristol as his boss. Can't these guys think for themselves?
And if you think Osama downed the twin towers all by his little self, sailing over the skies of America like he owned it, you're a little fool in their pocket (I don't mean you personally)...

I find it convenient that privated industry sets the prices for their own product. You decide if its a fair price by purchasing said item or declining to purchase. Fair market value is only determined by the government in a socialist (which is extreme left-wing ideology) system of government. With that being said, it would be unreasonable to assert that our government has anything to do with the current price of fuel, aside from the 40-50 cents per gallon of state and federal tax.

Ever notice that since Bush was taking a beating by the press for Katrina terror cells have been busted and Al-Qaeda conveniently releases a tape? I'm sure it has nothing to do with Bush getting hammered by Americans about Katrina, or the fact Republicans are using SCARE and FEAR to grab votes this election.
I think you will find this video clip very interesting. It proves beyond a shadow of doubt that this administration is using Politics and FEAR. http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/august2006/150806thenexus.htm
This one is funny because the Bush administration got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/june2006/270606sevenretards.htm
