I need to learn how to do lifts for ballroom theater arts. Are there any excercises that I can do to help me?

Hmm, I think your partner is doing the most of the job in the lifts.
What is requied of you is to keep your body from sagging in his arms. Hence, any exersises that build and stregthten your center core muscles are good. Pilates is the best I know.
Also, you need to feel the balance while your body is turned in unusual ways. Try all sorts of balance exersices. Try sitting and balancing on your butt while stretching your legs and arms forward at 45 degree angle to the floor. Try head or hand stands (if you can).
