I know that a lot of people post questions like this, but mine is a little different. You see, I already have an agent, headshots, training, etc.
I just can't get any work. I've been told that I have the looks and I know that I have the talent, but I don't perform my best at auditions and casting calls. Any suggestions?

Just a note: I'm a fourteen year old girl living in Vancouver, BC [Canada], which is a fairly big city with many prestigious acting schools.

It's all about timing and being in the right location. Vancouver is great but you need to go to LA, SF or NYC. If you really want to be seen. Why don't you perform well when you have the chance? Is it stage fright? You may want to perform locally before you try the big time. You can do more harm to your career by bad performances then good ones. It's a small industry where you will be auditioning in front of the same people. Learn your craft and take your time. If you have the talent time will be on your side.

Dear sphi, Depending on your age etc. if you want to learn Professionally I would be looking at a University degree in acting most top actors today come from a good taught background, this is really needed to get the breaks today, Australia is coming into its own now with some very good institutions, Our son goes to the University of Tasmania, Australia and finishes his degree next year, he thinks that he will enrol in an education degree after he finishes his performing Ats degree by doing that he can teach at High Schools and Collages JUST IN CASE he does not get that big break, he will have something to fall back on, This Uni also takes Over Sea's students as well.

If you have an agent and are not booking jobs, get another agent!

If could be your acting. Find an acting coach to work with you so you can discover problematic areas you may have in auditioning or performing. It is important to be strong in your auditioning.

You might want to look for classes that specialize in the audition process. Those types of classes will help you figure out what is happening when you have all the skills for the job but just can't clinch the audition.

This is a strange question coming from someone who claims to have an agent, head shots, training, etc. Why not just check with your agent. If he or she CAN'T get you some work, how would you expect us to know where you can get it...and in BC, no less!

Look for the opportunites there are for you. It doesn't matter what you do now, just get on stage and work on your craft. Find an acting teacher or coach you can trust and trust them. It takes a lot of work.
