I share the same beliefs as your daughter but I think the issue at hand was the teacher felt disrespected by her in front of her peers. I had similar issues w/ professors in college but learned to accept what they are saying as someone else's beliefs and learn about evolution like "hmmm, ok so this is what certain people believe", but I do not dispute or challenge because you won't get anywhere...unless your in debate class. Good luck, sounds like you have a strong minded girl there....hopefully she'll keep that trait :)

Why is it OK for children to be taught about evolution and NOT OK for them to be taught about GOD? Even our money say IN GOD WE TRUST, not in evolution we trust.
My children are raised to believe in God and the Bible, not in the theroy of evolution and I would be extremely offended if any teacher told my children that they came from monkeys.
I understand that this may be part of science, but the teacher should not present it as the truth and if evolution is his belief, then I feel that he is trying to teach his own religion to the children and HE should be repremanded by the school board.
You should contact the school board and present your case and if that does not help, go to the media, newspaper, local news, etc...

for one thing, man does not evolve from monkey, they, we share a common ancestor. just a scientific point. on the other hand, your daughtor just said what she believe in and shouldn't have been kick out of the class. her point was justfied, or at least arose from what was taught by the teacher. it's her own opinion, and she's in title to that, and even if the the teacher doesn't agree with it, she shouldn't have been punish for it. as a teacher, he should be even more tolerate of others opinion, especially if her OPINION was ASKED.

Wow, that's tough! I have an 11yo and I feel that if this were my situation I would most likely stand by my son as long as he was giving an opinion that was asked for by the teacher. I would not however condone his being rude. I don't think your daughter was being rude, after all the teacher asked what she thought!! I teach my son that man came from god, so that would be a tough subject to explain to him.

when you say 'kicked her out of class' for how long?
Did she ever return to this class?
No matter what is said and done in classes, there is a legal written policy for the rules and process of HOW and WHY children are 'kicked out of classes'
I would call your state department of education, explain the situation, and ask is there a legal written policy that states if your child was suppose to be kicked out of class for this reason.
Was there any more discipline involved?

if I were the teacher, I would have felt the same way. The way you describe it, she was very provocative and disrespectful. Sorry but that's the way I see it.
