First you need to talk to your doctor and figure out if it is situational depression due to something going on in your life right now, or if it is clinical depression and you need an antidepressant. Make sure to get out in the fresh air and sunlight, get exercise. Find some things that make you happy, talk to someone you can trust. And know that you are not alone, many people suffer from depression and it does get better. Try keeping a journal when you are feeling down, write down all of the things that are bothering you and all of your feelings. Just getting them out and down on paper can help. Good Luck and take care of you.

Dear Friend,
When I'm really depressed, for quite some time, I do the following things. Please see if this works for you. I'll be very happy for you if they work.
1. Make three lists.
2. List of your blessings. All the things you have or do that you feel good about.
3. List of things that are depressing you now.
4. Against the second list, write a solution to each. It can be even wildly impossible, like running away from home and becoming a superhero, doing a sex change, or escaping to wonderland...anything!
5. List of friends who make you feel good. You know, these are those people with whom even a little chat can uplift?
6. If you are cured of your depression at any of these stages, you may drop this plan and get on with the rest of your life. If it is fun, please continue.
7. If all the above don't work, make a fourth list. List all the things you can do, or want to do. Play the violin? Learn ballet? Art? Discover a new author?
You being you, these may or may not work, but hope you get the idea and get busy at writing down whatever lifts you up.
Cheers, and don't worry, you have friends out here.
Love,
Ashok

THE BAD NEWS: Depression is a serious life-threatening illness. If you have this illness, you are in great danger.
THE GOOD NEWS: Depression is now always treatable and often curable.
THE BAD NEWS: You won't get cured by listening to advice from random strangers on Yahoo Answers.
THE GOOD NEWS: You can be treated by a doctor for little or no money.
See a doctor -- tomorrow at the latest -- not next week. Alright, tomorrow is a holiday. Tuesday, then. OK?

You need to talk to someone like a counsellors or a rabbi or a minister. It sounds like something is troubling you. I hope you do get help you need. Sometimes talking helps and depending how bad the depression is you might have to take some medicine for it. But please seek help. I find doing something helps too. Volunteer your services to a social agency who needs helpers for the cause. Get a job. These things might help you. People get depressed for various reason, they feel worthless because they have nothing to do in their lives or they feel that no one understands them or there is no love in their lives. So what ever the reason seek help or do something to make yourself feel better.

talk to someone, a close relative, good friend, and spill it all out, whatever you're feeling inside, it's a good way to control your depression, you can also talk to your doctor or go to a behavioral therapist that will help you go through with it. Don't think of negative thoughts, always think that there is always a way out of it, you just have to be patient, be strong for yourself, and that there are soo any good things in the world for you.

i know how u feel! i have a type of genetic depression. i have gone 2 shrinkd and therapists and doctors. i am currently on a prescription drug called Effexor and it helps me very much, but not 100%.
you need to find someone to talk to, it doesn't have to be someone with all kinds of degrees, just someone you can trust. you don't have to talk about your depression all the time, just talk about anything. i used to go for lunch with a freind of my mom's (and now of mine) for whom i babysat, and that time with her helped me immensly.
you should have differnet environments to which you can escape, the atmosphere at my home and school are very different, so when i get sick of one, i can look forward to going to the next. dependin whether u r a people-person or not, yo need to surround yourself accordingly (eg. i'm not a people-person, so i tend to spend a lot of time alone, outside on the farm)
sunshine also helps (altho i dont know why)
for me, depression comes and goes, so find a way to keep yourself busy during the low times so u can fully enjoy the good times
i know every person is diiferent, but i hope this helps!!! Good luck

Go see your family doctor for help with your depression and your optometrist for your eyes. You posted this in the wrong section.

Please contact a licensed Psychiatrist or Psychologist as soon as possible. Only a Dr can diagnose your problem and provide the proper treatment for you.
You can do it. You will feel better once you get treatment.
I agree with the other replies. Do it as soon as possible, o.k?
