Unless you know them personally--dont. I know they smell soooo good, but I'd rather not...At one of my jobs there was a Really Good, Clean Hot Dog Truck on the site that was a family business--and they were like our family--so everyone lined up at lunch..They were veeeery clean, and they had a great reputation.

If youre just in NY for like 1 day, and you pass by a random truck--don't..But, if its in front of your job, and they have a good professional customer base--then they might be clean and good.

Years ago, my mom was on a plane with a woman who got very very sick--and turns out she got sick from a hot dog truck. So be careful.

Peace

I always eat from hot dog trucks- they're the best. I'd pay up to 15 cents for one

Hot Dogs from hot dog trucks are the tastiest of all. I would pay $2.00 for a hot dog and $1.00 for a pop. I also love polish sausages from a truck.

Currently, I avoid eating anything from a street vendor as I have become very particular... though, one of my fondest memories is buying pomme frites (french fries) or a mini pizza off a vendor in Germany, either at the train station or a few blocks away.

I ate from one in New York City. I didn't think the hotdog or the Philly steak sandwich were very tasty so I wouldn't do it again.
