When you sit down, your fat has to redistribute itself because your stomach needs to get out of the way. That's where the flesh folds/rolls come from.
I'm sure you know you have excess body fat. If you want to know how much, take your shirt off and stand sideways to the mirror. Raise your arms as high as you can above your head. Now without moving, look at yourself in the mirror. If you are the correct weight, your stomach should be stretched FLAT in this position.
Stomach fat is very unhealthy and can lead to all kinds of health problems. You need to give up sugary drinks like Coke and start eating healthy foods.

I can't believe you have to ask at 217lbs. How tall are you? You are fat and it is unhealthy so try the South Beach diet cuz you can eat a lot, but stuff that's good for you! Quit the twinkies and junk. It's good to get good eating habits when you are young and for sure cut out sodas and drink water or if you have to have soda, make it diet soda. You have your whole life ahead of you so start living right with food that's good for you. This really isn't a lecture, but fact.

217lbs at 17? not only is it unhealthy [ bad for your back and heart], also not so attractive unless your really tall and dont have those love handles.
work out. run. get an ab lounge or something

because your hips are pushing up into your abdominals so that casues them the contractr like an accordian. every big person has this prob but at your weight i would say your unhealthy regardless loose some chubs and good luck!

when you stand up your stomach and the skin and fat is stretched out, then when you sit down it compacts creating those folds of fat/skin. and yeah, its from excess fat. I would work out if i was you
