If you had to fight a bear the only thing you could do is cover your head and pretend to be dead and lie as still as possible, even after you think he is gone. If you move and he's still around, he'll attack you again.

Well, considering those options, after 40+ years of smoking, to run is out, hitting him with a rock will only piss him off, I don't own a weapon any more so there's no point in looking for one, and I'm too old to climb a tree. That only leave one out, so I'd try to get used to my wet pants as quickly as possible, make piece with the Lord, and do my best to whip that brute.
