Going on vacation & would like to delay the monthly ritual. Is it possible to delay or skip my period by altering how I take my oral contraceptives? How does this work?

Yes you can. If you have 4 weeks of pills in your pack and usually you get your period on the last week, skip that week and just start a new pack in it's place. It should skip your period.

My gyno mentioned that it is safe to do. If you want to verify it or see how to do it specifically with your prescription then just call a planned parenthood or your gyno. :-)

Times they are a changin' there used to be nothing recommended but now we have more choices.

This is possible with oral contraceptives. Just don't take the "spacer pills" that you usually take during your period, go right on with the next pack. Talk to your dr to see if this is okay with your particular situation--usually fine.

You can not do anything to skip it or prolong your period. When you are on the pill it will help to regulate your period. You will never be able to know when or how to stop it or delay it. It is apart of life.
