I would be a little pissed but it also depends on who said it. For example if it were my mother, then I would expect HER to say something like that because that is what she DOES. but anyone else I would get a little offended but I wouldn't say anything about it, I would let it go. Some people think that voicing their opinions all the time is actually their way of being helpful.

Politely say, "Oh really, you are the first person who has ever made that request. Up until now everyone has been happy with the way the celery has been served. The next time you are over I will make sure that I peel some especially for you. maybe you can show me how to do it" Then turn your back and roll your eyes at the rest of your guests.

Well, I must say that I usually peel the celery too but I would have never told someone else that. If I were them, I would've kept it to myself. Did they say that in front of everyone? Lord I hope not. If so, I hope you thought of something quick to say. I'm quite a nut and love to make people laugh, I guess I would have come up with something cute and funny to say like: "I left them unpeeled on purpose just so you'd have to take your teeth out to remove those threads he he" That would've smacked them right back and humiliated them in the same way they made you feel. Everyone else on the inside would've been saying "you go girl"

You could've thrown the celery in their face... or "changed the subject" and said "Once again, thanks so much for coming to the dinner I've prepared for you all." Make them feel like poo. You gotta love family. There's always someone who has to try to make you feel bad for something.

PS Peeled celery? I've never heard of such a thing. Maybe you should've said "Who the hell does that? Crazy people?" and then laughed in a sinister way.. mwahahahahaha... MWAHAHAHAHHAHA.

I would have said "If you wanted peeled celery you should have stayed home you ungrateful idiot!"

Just my opinion....Guest for dinner shouldn't complain, especially family. They should be grateful that you invited them at all! :)
