I say that 18 is too young to have a baby. I am not jealous - I have 4 children and a grand-baby due in the spring to my daughter and son-in-law who have been married for 4 years and they are 29 and 27 years old. I am old enough to be your mom. Bringing a baby into this world is a huge life-long commitment. You don't "get" your girlfriend pregnant, you decide together when it is the right time to have a baby for both of you. If you have a good paying stable job with a home of your own, then get married first. There is no rush to have children. Yes, 18 is a legal adult, but that does not make you ready to be a daddy. It is a good goal to provide for your family and be a good dad. Just don't rush into it. Enjoy life a little first to make sure you are doing what you really want and aren't just having a child to "prove a point".

You may not think so, but there is a HUGE difference between 18 and lets say 21. Just waiting a few years gives you more time to mature and get a little more financially stable. I had a baby at 21 and there's no way I would have been as ready at 18 as I was at 21. Even 21 is young but it makes it easier if you're mature and have a stable income. Just because we think 18 is too young doesn't mean we're jealous because we can't have kids... Yes, there's a small percentage of people who can't but most of us are just as fertile as the next person but we CHOOSE not to have kids that young because the babies deserve to have a more stable family life than one can give them the second they're allowed to call themselves an 'adult'.
It's also very irresponsible to 'get' your gf pregnant when you turn 18. You say it like she has no say in it and you're going to do it without discussing it with her. Maybe she doesn't want a baby at such a young age. You wonder why people get abortions... They don't want little dumbasses like you running around with no morals messing up everyone's lives.
We'll see if you feel the same way in a few years. I highly doubt it.
princess_diela- You're the prime example...baby at 17 and no grammar skills. Finish school and actually pay attention so you can teach your kids and they'll be smarter. Don't just go to get it over with and get just good enough grades to squeeze by.

I agree no one can tell you what to do but I think that you should get married first instead of second if you actually have thime to think it out. Understand that you will have to deal with that person for at least the next 18 years so it would want to be someone you can live with or be cordial to no matter how the situation turns out. Be smart about it though...don't get your girlfriend pregnant just because you can. Having a baby is big responsibility...trust me, I am on my second and am 23 years old. The reason people say to wait is so you can enjoy your life while you are young without that big of a responsibility because once that child comes along, you no longer have a life...it's their life that matters. Just be smart!!!

honestly, I do agree that 18 is too young because some arent emotionally, mentally, and money ready to support another life. Plus, you'll be 21 soon and you won't be able to go and get drunk and have fun... knowing you have a baby at home needing the attention from his or her parents. But good luck with the whole being a daddy thing. Best wishes to you, your gf, and the unborn baby.

I think its better to get married and then get your girl pregnant. You cant MAKE her stay with you, and its even more impossible when you're not married.
If you want to have babies when you're 18 theres no reason you cant. Its just our culture creates a need in young adults to feel free and carefree until theyre in their late twenties, and its considered pitiful when young people 'waste their youth' having babies.
My mom was 18 and my dad was 20 when i came along. they have three kids total, and have been married just under 25 years. Theres no reason it cant work.
Finding a girl who's that commited might be harder than you imagine, since all the world tries to convince kids to be reckless and wild for as long as possible. It can build ot resentment and regret in young parents towards their situation.

Any one as self centered and immature as you are has no business having a child. Prove that you are a man first, then have children. That means get married, be able to support a family and learn to spell, not simply reproduce.

dude... bad idea. do you a have a job to support her if u do get her pregnant. you are to young to have a kid. you might thnk that your ready but when you have the kid than your hole perspective will change completely. you should wait a couple years before you even think about doing that. you'd be better off that way.
