In the human body there are normally lots of different bacteria and yeasts living and growing, but in a balance. A yeast infection is when the yeast known as "candida" in a woman's vagina "overgrows" the normal healthy balance. Symptoms include a "cottage-cheese" (white lumpy mucus) discharge and intense itching.
If this is her first yeast infection she should see a doctor just to be sure she's diagnosing it properly. The easiest treatment is Monistat or similar over the counter medicines. They are a suppository, that is a mushy "pill" that is inserted into the vagina once a day for between 3 and 7 days, depending on the specific form you buy.
Yeast infections seem embarassing because of where they occur, but they happen to just about every woman sometime during their life. Your friend's doctor can make some suggestions about how to prevent another one from occurring, such as using only unscented soaps, and not using douches.

A yeast infection is an imbalance of Candidis in the vagina. It can be caused by many things, most common is stress. There are many over-the-counter remedies. Have her try one that is at least 3 day treatment. The one day treatments don't always work. If she is still symptomatic after treatment have her see her doctor. Good luck to Jessica.

How do you know it's a yeast infection? There are other things, such as STD's that cause the same kind of discharge. I'd have 'Jessica' go to the Dr. of Health Department for a test, and then they will give 'her' a prescription.

There are several over the counter drugs available now to cure yeast. Creams come with the pre scheduled treatments and she can treat it while she sleeps. See your local pharmacologist or you doctor.
