Don't talk to tourists. Or make up a smart-*** answer to tell them. Find a way to deal with them.

P.S. Do you live here?

I lived on an island, too, and was always questioned by the tourists. They're just interested in what it's like to live on an island, that's all. It always sounds so idyllic for most of those that live landlocked. Tourists always drive people crazy with their questions. Try not to let it bother you.

It's just simple, friendly conversation. for most people this is a pretty non-controversial question. I think it's more significant to ask yourself why this bothers you so much?

So- let me guess... you live in a tourist destination and hate tourists? Get a life.

They are just being polite :). Making sure that you're a native before bombarding you with questions on how to get someplace. I doubt someone who's lost will ask another tourist for information.

because we envy you. you don't have to travel to get to tourist destinations. it's like everyday is vacation to you. unlike us, we have to work and save for every trip to your hometown. you should feel blessed.

does it bother you? i don't think you should.
