You need to have a diagonstic check done of the ECM to find out what the problem is, It could possibily be a sensor that could in the long run rob you of gas mileage. futher more, If you live in a state where smog inspections are done, it could cause you to fail that particular inspection. The check engine light was installed on your vehicle for a reason.

Could be several things. The "check engine" lite will come on when something is not quite right with the car. sensors determine how the computer runs the engine and to do this it has to have several sensors sending it signals. A sensor couild be bad or may have picked up a problem. A repairman using a computer reader can give you the answer. If the light has just come on, it may go out by its self. Don't drive the car very long with the light on. Could cause some damage. Pops

i own a repair shop,,and the check engine light is a aggravating thing,,but we need them,,it may have an oxygen sensor going bad on it,,you wont notice any difference in the running part of it,,it may also have a loose gas cap,,many things can set the light off,try taking the battery cable off of it for a bout 30 seconds,,and this will erase the memory on the computer,,and see if it comes back on,,if it does take it to auto zone,,and let them scan it to see what is wrong with it,,they do this as a free service,,and will also have the needed part to fix it with,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.and have a good labor day.

My light comes on all the time. I just ignore it. They just reset it anyway if I take it. I think it's something that triggers to get you to take it to the dealer for routine maintenance. Sometimes if you don't have the gas cap tight enough it does that. Three clicks they told me after I took it in like a fool the first time.

sometimes if you don't get your gas cap back on tight enough after putting gas in your gas, the check engine light will come on and stay on until you take it to a dealer and they reset it

Mine does that as well...just ignore it. as long as you do not feel any other problems, you are fine. I got work done on my car here and there and it always stays on...the mechanics said not to worry if you do not want to pay the reset fee to make the light go off. my car is a 92 buick century

it could be a lot of things.your best bet is to have it hooked up to a computer to find out for sure. on some vehicles it turns on just due to miles telling you to change oil and other stuff like that. but you dont know for sure so have it hooked up to a computer and find out it may just need to be reset you never know
