You are giving Bush too much power here! It isn't up to him to regulate prices on anything - he cannot do it. It's illegal. If he could, it would essentially give him the powers of a dictator. If you think gas prices are high here, you should try gas prices in Europe and the UK - they pay quite a bit more than we do. At least double.

Prices of gas, like anything else, are a matter of supply and demand. If the government messes with the prices, then supply gets messed up. When Carter decided to control gas prices (and I don't KNOW how he got away with THAT...) we had very long lines and rationing. We could only buy about 10 gallons and only on our assigned days. If the price had been allowed to go to its "natural" level, none of the rationing and shortages ever would have happened. Oh yeah, I happen to be an economist by training.......

I really just don't think he cares! I am beginning to wonder if he is behind it all! I am ashamed to admit that I voted for this man. I just can't believe how bad things have gotten in our country lately. I will have to admit the gas prices have gone down in the State I live in just a little bit in the last week or so. Which I was very shocked with it being a holiday weekend. I just don't understand either how the president can't do something about it. I mean isn't that why we have him in office for??? That is why I say I wonder if he isn't behind it or benefiting from it somehow!

Bush doesn't care. When your daddy is a billionaire, you don't concern yourself with gas prices.

you would think with the US supplying itself with 40% of its own consumption, and being in control of iraq. that we would be swimming in cheap gas. whats up with that
