Dell is vastly overpriced, and the cheapest stuff that they DO have is rather trashy. Their tech support is horrible now, although it was great a few years ago.
Right now, Dell's trying to get rid of a lot of low-end Intel junk, because AMD is smoking Intel rather thoroughly.
My suggestion would be to go to:
www.microcenter.com
...and try them. They're #1 rated in Consumer Reports for US computer stores, as opposed to Best Buy's much lower rating.
Now for a specific answer:
If all you plan to do is run the Net, send email, and minor stuff, ANY PC will do. If you need some firebreathing gaming PC, then try www.alienware.com or have someone build you a monster. If the answer is something in between, then the best possible answer would be to recommend that you buy an AMD Live-class PC, probably from HP, at the Microcenter web site.

The best place to purchase a computer is at Prime Systems. You will get a pretty good price, and the technicians will help you get exactly what you need. You can also purchase a 3 year warranty for like $10.00.

P.S. Tell them that Tyler referred you.

Depends on your specific uses for it.
That's like asking, which is best place to buy a car and what kind.
To just say, a Mercedes, a Rolls Royce or a Yugo, is meaningless. Same with computers.
