Where The Red Fern Grows-Wilson Rawlings
It is so bittersweet in places and beautifully written. It's about a young boy near the turn of the 20th century who aquires two coon hounds and then goes through the heartbreak of losing his little buddies.
I am 37 years old and have seen a lot of this life but that book still gets me choked up after all these years.

I know it's an old book, but Summer Storm by Catherine Hart. I cried like a baby the first time I read it, then I read it again 4 years later and cried even harder.
