I'm going out today to buy a cheap-*** notebook, which I've never had before. My husband and I also have three desktop computers between the two of us.

Is there a router that can handle both wireless needs and our desktop computers?

Hardware n00bie here, hope this question even makes sense....

Linksys WRT54G is very good and very easy to get set up. It has 4 ports to connect your desktop computers, and wireless to accommodate your new laptop, which should have a built-in wireless capability. The Linksys router will connect to your cable modem or DSL modem on the "WAN" interface, then you plug in your desktops to any of the 4 ports on the back of the linksys. Then you just configure your wireless network to get the laptop going, if you need help there, just re-post a question when the time comes and we'll get you going.

Check out www.linksys.com and look up the WRT54G model. Pick it up at any BestBuy or CompUSA. You might pay 5 or 10 dollars more for a linksys versus other vendors, but you'll get what you pay for according to many of the magazines, easy setup, good web interface, decent technical support, etc.
