If the door isn't too tightly fitting in its frame, perhaps you can push a piece of plastic (such as an expired credit card) through the gap to force the bar back into the lock.
Otherwise can you remember where you put the spare keys ? Most times when you buy new locks you get at least two keys.
Or can you get to the outside of a window to break the glass and get in that way? A piece of glass from the hardware store would be cheaper than either a new door or a locksmith.

You should be able to pop the wood trim around the latch open enough to fit a butter knife through it to wiggle the latch open (kind of like the "credit card" trick). It should be very easy to get a small nail to hammer the trim back down afterwards. Good luck!

Most bed room doors have a small hole in the knob or to the side. Inside that hole is a slot that you can depress or use a small screw driver that you can turn and will open the door ..Good Luck!

use a credit card or a butter knife to wiggle in the lock an push it over. This should work unless it is a deadbolt lock. Then you're outta luck

Try to open a window from outside. If that does not work break a window, or try to break open a door by hitting it with your body. Good luck!

If the hinges are on the outside, take the hinge pins out and swing the hinge side of the door towards you.
