Depends where you live. Often thrift stores like Goodwill have good working second hand machines for $60.00 or less. If that's not an option then call an independent appliance repair man and see what they typically charge. We have had our machine for more than 15 years and spent between $50 and $75 every 4 or 5 years when we have had a problem .. still going strong ... not too many things that can go wronq with a washing machine .. often its a belt or bearing .. easy to repair for a repair man.. Good luck!

I could say that there is a possibility of bearing failures with this type of problem encountered.
However my personal opinion is that there is still a ‘Best Buy’ out there, but what you will actually be choosing is something that is Very Good & Great Selection and with Front Load Bearings, customer satisfaction is more than their goal; it's what drives them so let them take care of the problem for you.
Just check it out on their site at http://www.frontloadbearings.com

I went through this last year with our washer. Our's was in warranty so it did not cost me anything but much aggravation.
It will be better for you to buy new vs. hire a repairman. You might us the link above to do some troubleshooting, but chances are if you hire a repairman you are out at least $45.00-$75.00. If there is something that can be repaired it could cost anywhere from $30.00 simple parts to $250.00 for more expensive parts. Then you've got another trip for them to put the part on and that is $75.00. It can get crazy. It took the repair people eight times for us, before I got furious and asked for a new washer. I ended up with a new washer. For me the warranty was well worth the $89.00 we paid.
Good Luck, being without a washer is such an inconvenience.

I think you should either give more accurate information or stop trying to make up a fictional problem. A washer only fills if started at the appropriate place on the timer and would never clunk after two minutes or after two hours if there is no water entering the machine.

I go by the 10 year rule... If it under 10 years old I would probably call a tech to come out... If it is over I would probably purchase a new one... The appliance techs today probably charge appx $ 50 to $75.. for a sevice call.. for that fee they should be able to let you know what it would cost for repair..

You don't say how old it is, but the odds are that get a new one is the best answer. With the cost of labor these days, you could easily spend the price of a new machine on repairs.

New washers are so cheap, it's not worth fixing the old one. Go to lowes and get a brand new one

Make sure the water spicket is turned on.
Make sure the washer is plugged in and the outlet works.
