You don't mention your daughter's age other than her being a teenager. As the parent of a grown daughter and three grandchildren, I think spying on your daughter is a shame. If you have faith in her and her abilities to know right from wrong, you should have no need to snoop into her myspace. It is like reading someone's personal diary. Most likely she has many friends of both genders on there. Tell her of your concerns. Ask her if she minds if you go there to read her blogs. Tell her you are interested in what she is doing and want only the best for her. Ask for reassurance that the amount of time she is spending on there is being spent honorably. As for going directly there and doing it behind her back, be prepared for her distrust of you in the future. After reading your addition to this question, you and your daughter obviously have some issues more serious than just myspace. I also suggest counseling. You certainly could use it and some good parenting skills.

If you're using Windows XP just create another user profile and put a password on it. Go to the Windows website and look up password protection or creating new users. There should also be a password dialog box when you first open up your computer. That's the best one to put on a code.

Look in the control panel for a users or administrator tools icon. Then try and find the setting that requires that you logon to the PC to use the computer. Set a password for the account you logon with and don't tell your daughter.

All the suggestions about passwords are the best, but you can set three levels of password, BIOS, user and setup. Use all three, different passwords on each, no password less than 8 characters with at least one numeral and case sensitive. Change the passwords monthly and don't leave records or use passwords that are easily guessed.

Set it up for a password, and she won't be able to logon. Just don't write the word down for her to find. Get her a computer of her own, if you can afford one...........
