Awesome. He overcame adversity that not many could to get back on top a few years ago after dropping to 141 in the world. And, he still accomplished amazing things even with Pete Sampras as his contemporary.

He will be remembered as the most popular, though not quite the best, player of his era. He will be remembered as someone who evolved in so many ways under the spotlights, from the "image is everything" guy to a man who fought off injuries and adversity. He became a family man and a philanthropist, and also one who appreciated how fortunate he was.

His 8 major wins are less than Sampras, Emerson, Laver, Borg, etc., but he was a versatile player, and he also played great in the Davis Cup (for what that's worth). Certainly a Hall of Fame player who became a Hall of Fame person...He will [probably continue to be somewhat in the public eye, in tennis or elsewhere.

He amazes me. I didn't like him in the begginning. He was a cocky person that only cared about how his hair looked. But then he grew up to be a great sportsman. My favorite memory of him will always be when he lost on the French Open last year. He was hurt and couldn't play anymore, but then he kept going. He wanted to give his opponent a good match, and wanted to show people that he would never walk out of a match. We will miss him.

He had a great career, and over the years I bacame a big fan of his. One of the top 10 best players of all time, but not quite on par with Sampras, Federer, Lendl, or Laver.
