I have a beautiful white leather watch which I love so much I wear it almost all the time... and that's the problem. Hour upon hour of wear have resulted in the watch strap smelling horribly of sweat. I have tried scrubbing it with hand soap, but that didn't work. I am at a loss - it stinks and I love wearing it! How can I get the smell out? The watch face is attached to the strap and cannot be removed, so I can't immerse/soak the watch in liquid (not waterproof).

try a mixture of baking soda and water, make a paste and let it soak and sit, rinse off and let it air dry overnite. Take it off in the future when you bathe, and go to bed at nite, it needs airing out !

First of all, you don't want to use plain detergents or soaps. You can use saddle soap to clean it, then use a light leather conditioning oil. This presumes that it is actually genuine leather.

If all solution fails replace it. I mean even if the smell is gone again when you do sweat then the reaction again so the smell would always be there . Yet ouy so like it then,i guess you have to put a hanky on your wrist and then wear the leather strap, at least the hanky gets the sweat so the odor wouldn't be there for the time being.

my daughter used to have a horse and we treated and cleaned all her leather with Murphy's Oil... My son had a leather jacket and it was going to cost 200.00 to have it cleaned.. they had to send it to Montreal.. I used Murphy's oil and It was as good as new.

I'm not sure but your description of a sweaty stinky leather watchstrap kinda puts that whole 80s plastic Swatch Watch craze into perspective.

Go to a shoe store and get leather cleaner. It works great.
