I would seriously reconsider that. A large percentage of raccoons carry a potentially deadly parasite called raccoon roundworm. They can be quite vicious and destructive. Wild ones are notorious for tearing up people's garbage, destroying gardens, digging up lawns, killing cats and seriously injuring even larger dogs. Whenever I hear or see them outside my house or in my yard I shine a light on them and scream at them. I hate those things.

I knew a guy that had a raccoon he caught as a baby. It was in a tree he cut down in his back yard he loved it until it got bigger and bit him one day and then he found out that most raccoon carry rabies naturally. He had to have a bunch of shots and his little baby coon grown up turned out to be infected.

I don't think that it would be the best idea to have a pet raccoon, but it is possible to house break them. Check out the webites I added.

I work at a wildlife rehabilitation center....you have no idea what you are asking for. they tear up everything and once they hit puberty and get all hormonal they can be a handful. can be loving one second and the next bite thru your finger to the bone. be very careful, as they age they change.

Did you ever read a book called, "RASCAL" by Stirling North? Before you even CONSIDER bringing a baby raccoon into your house, PLEASE read this book first.
I love raccoons, skunks and 'possums...in the wild.
Good luck!

Having a racoon for a pet is a bad idea. They can destroy your property and then God knows what things you can get from them, disease wise. So, no, it is not a good idea at all.

Before getting one, make sure its legal in your state. In a lot of states, it's against the law to own a wild animal (even if you tamed it). If you can own them, google how to housebreak them. Good luck!

The problem with Racoons is that when they grow up they become very aggressive. My friend had them from babies, but then had to release them.
