Is it rock on? What does it mean as a gang sign?

In the 50's and earlier it was a representation of horns. You stuck the fist up behind your neighbour's head during class photo and it meant that his girl was fooling around on him, or your buddies wife was. It was also used to mean bull****. Early rock and roll didn't use the sign although it probably crept into the acts when they started to add theatrics to the music. The devil crept into rock and roll when Baptist ministers started spending thousands of dollars to build machines that would play records from the inside out so that they could communicate with the devil.

Used to be a sign to "curse" you with the evil eye. It was called giving someone the "horns" (of the devil I presume). Its been around a lot longer than rock n roll!

classicly its the sign of the devil. mostly found or used in rock music.
