It wasn't "great." It was cute. Lisa Kudrow was superb, the rest were just OK. Some of the writing is dated, the jokes are SOOO 90s. But it was OK.
Interestingly, there is a tie in between Friends, Seinfeld, and Mad About You. Ursula is Phoebe's twin sister (also played by Lisa Kudrow), and showed up on Friends a few times, but was also the waitress in Mad About You, at Paul and Jamie's coffee shop. Also, in one episode of Mad About You, it was revealed that before Paul married Jamie, he lived in Kramer's apartment, across the hall from Jerry (Seinfeld). There may be other tie ins, I'm not sure - maybe Will and Grace is tied together with those others somehow - they were all in NYC (and on NBC).
Better shows:
Seinfeld
Will and Grace
That 70s Show
Wings
Mad About You
Spin City
Scrubs (not really a sitcom, but hilarious)
Everybody Loves Raymond
and, going back a bit:
Frasier
Cheers
Golden Girls
Mork and Mindy
Dream On (a weird sitcom on MTV I think)
Cosby
Newhart (80s)
Bob Newhart Show (70s)
Rhoda
Mary Tyler Moore
WKRP
Three's Company (UTTERLY STUPID, so dumb, it was genius)
MASH
All in the Family
Maude
Jeffersons
Sanford and Son
Lotsa Luck (a short-lived but great show with Dom Deluise)
Hell, let's take it all the way back:
Honeymooners
I Love Lucy
Damn, you got me going... I'm sure I missed a whole bunch. The point is, all of these were better than "Friends."
Love, Jack.

i think friends was the best show ever! every episode is so funny, the writing is great, and the characters are so fun and lovable. plus, the actors have great chemistry and work so well together- you can tell they really are friends. i still watch it all the time, and no matter how many times i've watched an episode, it never fails to make me laugh!

When it first aired, I really didn't care for it. But after a few of my co-workers started talking about it, I figured I'd give it another try. After that, I was hooked. I'm so glad that they wrote that Ross and Rach got back together finally. After all, "He's her lobster." lol!

Yeah. I didn't really get into it until late because it started off when I was in second grade or something, but once I started watching it, I fell in love with it.
