A monarchy is a very good form of government as long as you have a monarch who is concerned for the good of the people. It works very well because the monarch can get things done, he has no congress etc. to convince to do things his way. I say he and his because most have been kings but some of the best monarchs have been women. The problem comes in when you get a monarch who cares only about him or herself, or a monarch who is weak minded or nuts. Then there is also no one from whom they must get approval so things can become very bad for the people of the nation. Also, as I said earlier it is a problem when they are weak minded or nuts, and this was a frequent occurance because the royals only married royals and this resulted in a lot of inbreeding, creating weaknesses in the royal line.

The only disadvantage I can see, is that the monarch's power is transferred to his children, after they arrange for his murder. And everyone knows that children make poor decisions.

If you are the leader, and something goes wrong with your country, somebody always leads a revolution against YOU PERSONALLY, not your laws, not your members of government, it's YOU, and they usually cut your head off and mount it on a stick and march around.. that would be a big disadvantage.

Leadership just gets handed down from father to son without any input from the people unlike a democracy like we have here in the US...oh wait....nevermind.
