If you are looking for basic (non special sizes) you cant beat HD or Lowes unfinished oak cabinets also try what is called RTA or ready to assemble, they work like those desks in a box you buy. If you want custom cabinets try finding a regional office that supplys HD or Lowes with their Special Order they ussually have a discounted warehouse for the stuff that couldnt make the cut for some reason or another

Try contacting local cabinet installers/makers. They often take out old cabinets during remodeling jobs and may let you have the old ones cheap or for free. The downside is you may not have enough nor the right size for your job. You may also find they can fabricate the cabinet cases on site, usually much better quality than the prefab presswood cases, and either provide the doors/trim or you can order the doors/trim alone from a retailer/wholesaler and wind up with an overall better product.

Here in South Jersey we have Homesurplus.com. They have solid hardwood cabinets for less than Home Depot particle board junk.

Unless you're moving soon, cheap cabinets are false economy. You get what you pay for.

You can also make your own, it's not as difficult as most people think.

You could try the local Habitat for Humanity warehouse. There is one on Grosebeck in Mt. Clemens where they sell donated items to raise money for projects.
