After the 1st oz, I had to go to the bathroom immediately. After the 2nd oz, NOTHING!! I had period cramps every since. Does this mean it is bound to work, or will I just cramp till the doctor has to induce me??? And how do u differentiate between off & on severe period-like cramping and actual contractions?

I tried that and it didn't work. Maybe it would for some, but don't know. I think the castor oil works like a laxative. So that is why you are cramping. I have had 3 children and can tell you that with my labor the cramping isn't always so easy to distinguish between labor pain and false labor pain. Some people experience more pain than others. Main thing is if they are regular contractions and close together.

I drank castor oil, after i was a week late on delivery.How far along are you, because you dont want to harm your baby... Castor oil will clean your bowel out thats normal. Contractions feel like severe cramps, and your tummy gets very hard, its on and off but if you feel constant pain you need to go into your ob/gyn, tell them what you took, how much, bring the bottle and explain the pains, they will most likely hook you up to a fetal monitor to see if its contractions, but you can have contractions weeks before you go into labor, write down the times and quality of pain.
for example 2 pm for 40 minutes pain 9 and do this every hour so you have something to give to your ob, it may help them understand better whats going on.

Castor oil doesn't work for most people. I've had 3 sisters try it and it never helped. You will probably have to wait until you are induced.

You should go to your doctor. Is this your first baby? Better to be safe and under your doctors care. My first child, the beginning of labor felt like a backache, but when I went in, I was dilated to 4 cm. If you are unsure if you are in labor, don't just guess. go to your doctor.

why on earth would you drink castor oil???!!! Seek a medical professionals opinion immediately and do nothing else but follow EXACTLY WHAT THEY TELL YOU TO DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just relax and trust your body. Stop trying to force labor on yourself. All you're going to do is make yourself uncomfortable and frustrated. Relax......all babies do eventually come out when they are ready.
