The ACLU protects the rights of ALL people. Remember, YOU can be accused of being a pedophile and some people will want to deny YOU of your rights to defense based on the heinousness of what you are being ACCUSED of, not what you may or may not be convicted of.

Let me give you a very simple example. Look at some of the old newspapers and find those on death row that were found guilty of some really awful crimes... some have been found to be innocent because people LIED, DNA evidence, over-zealous Prosecutors that merely wanted another notch on their belts with total disregard for the fact that the person that was prosecuted was innocent; whenever one person lies, there is always the possibility that the convicted person was innocent and that means that there's a guilty criminal out in the streets committing more crimes.

Also, if someone is denied his/her rights for whatever reason, that means it can happen to you or someone dear to you. The law MUST protect everyone or it protects no one.

Yes, I understand that some of these pedophiles should not be released EVER... but, change the sentencing but do not deny anyone the right to a fair trial because being accused is not the same as being guilty.

If you do not want crooked police officers denying you your rights or doing things that is against the law, be thankful for the UCLA. They prevent police, prosecutors and judges from denying YOU and me our rights as guaranteed by the Constitution of this great land of ours. The UCLA fights to preserve the Constitution and the spirit for which it was written, and prevent tyranny in our US of A.

While a person has the right to believe as they want, they do not have the right to impose their beliefs on others, especially if that person holds a position of power (like teachers, judges). To have the right to believe is not the same as having the right to impose your beliefs or force someone else to believe what you believe. Give us details and specifics. What are you specifically referring to?

You are asking people to comment without providing any details whatsoever on the case. Is it a situation where the accused didn't get a fair trial and the ACLU stepped in? I don't know because you didn't say. Your question is along the lines of "so did you stop beating your wife"/

They protect our rights. All of ours. The fact that some criminals are included in "all of us" is a side issue.

If you actually look at the cases where a pedophile was a plaintiff, the issue in question had nothing to do with their activities as a pedophile or child molester. It just happened that the person whose rights were being infringed also happened to have been convicted o that crime.

{EDIT to Cinner} That's because Judge Moore was violating a federal court order. The issue had already been litigated. And the ACLU has taken dozens of cases defending Christian rights, if you bother to actually look.

You're twisting things.

The ACLU protects the rights of everyone, which could include a pedophile or anyone else who's committed a crime...or is a suspect of said crime. It doesn't mean the rights are connected TO the crime, however.

The ACLU's mission is the protection of rights for all people.

Because the ACLU believes in not only in killing children but protecting the people who would injure or kill them.

Because obviously they are just as sick and perverted as the pedophiles are. You have to be sick and perverted to worry about the "rights" of predators like them.

That is a good question. I don't see them representing Christians like Judge Roy Moore.
