I have been on birth control almost two months now. I must admit I was late during the day on taking my birthcontrol and had already had sex, but I did. What could be causing this?

You could just be adjusting still to your bc. Talk to your doctor about it. Plus, you have to be careful about taking your pills on time. I was one of those people who could miss a couple days and take two or three at one time and be fine. I know other people who take their pills three hours late and are on their period already.

It is possible. A common side effect of birth control is spotting and breakthrough bleeding especially when you are on a medication that makes you skip your period (like Seasonale, I hated it). I bleed for more than a month on that stuff. Not taking your pill on time increases the chance of this happening. Make an effort to take your pill everyday at the same time. If this doesn't correct itself after your actually period, consult your doctor and talk about getting on a different pill.

Usually when you have bleeding two weeks before your cycle, the prescription isn't strong enough for you. Talk to your doctor.
