Actually it is not true at all that cousins who have children will have "retarded" children. That is a very American sterotype and for centuries in all other countries it was preferred that cousins marry as to keep families close and to keep money within a family. Having retarded kids is a total myth and ignorant American ideology.

Whether it is "right" would be a personal issue and should not be subjected to other people's moral or ethical interpretations. The legal issue is a different matter, there are those states which have specific laws pertaining to such relationships. Without knowing the state of residency a more specific answer is not possible.

A lot depends on how close cousins u are. In the U.S. u may marry ur cousin as long as its not ur 1st cousin. In some states its 1st and 2nd cousins. In that case its ok and no ur children will not come out retarded nor have extra fingers, toes , or limbs. The Egyptians did this for 1000 years and did not have problems til the last 100-200 years are so. When they had problems it was mentally thats where the break began.

You married her by "accident"....I guess accented was an accident, too, huh? Just joking. Just buying some time to think what to say here.
So, did you guys get an annulment...or separated? What did you guys do? Did you guys have a baby by accident, yet? Silly me...not nice...
Seriously....this is the reason why it's so important to know who your relatives are....then again nowadays---these kinds of accidents are bound to happen a lot, given the fact that men sell their sperms and women sell their eggs. There's no way to know if people are related to the one they fall in love with, because the donor is supposed to stay anonymous....
Inbreeding is not very good and you both know that (google what happened to the royal families of Europe in the past). I hope you guys got an annulment.

Stay married. It's OK. Now it's all done and over with. In many Middle Eastern and Asian countries they marry cousins and the chances of retarded babies are EXTREMELY low. In fact people that aren't related have more mentally retarded babies than people who are related.

Plus, in the Old Testament where it talks about people you can't marry, it lists everyone that you aren't allowed to marry or whom God is not OK with for you to marry but would you believe that NOT ONCE ANYWHERE does it mention anything about cousins?

So stay married. Love her as much as you can, she is your wife afterall. Don't tell a lot of people about it and live a happy life.

All the best to you.

Well to get started you are not the one wrong and it seems that somehow your should have known that she was your cousin even while you were dating her. Your question do not detail much except you married your cousin and looking for someone to help satisfy your sins. I knew a long time friend that was in this same situation. All I can tell you is that you cannot let this be there will be no happiness in this ordeal. I know they say closer to the skin is better, that is a lie and it will do you good to end this relationship at all costs. Surely your parents and aunts tried to steer you straight and now you have doubts.

I cant believe it took until your wedding day to find out.Surely someone knew before then , but anyway whats done is done and if you really love her what does it matter. If you plan on having a family you had probably better look into things a lot beforehand, but other than that, as they say LOVE conquers all. GOOD LUCK in whatever lies ahead for you both.

Nobody can control who they fall in love with. This used to be the standard a few hundred years ago. My parents were first cousins, but lived far apart and still fell in love. To the person who said their kids will be messed up, I'm glad your so smart and can predict genetic outcomes. Just to let you know, my sis and I both have very high IQs and both have BS degrees. How's that for messed up kids?

Don't freak out. I fell in love with 2 of my cousins, 1 of which returned my love, and we knew we were related. (Then we broke up and now I have a different boyfriend and he has a different girlfriend.) It's no big deal. Just continue to love her and be in love with her as you always have. Check these out:

depending on state law, it may be legal. Look into it. So what if you're cousins. It wasn't done intentionally. And the only worries in the genetic department would be for siblings (brother and sister). Even then the chances of genetic mutation are only 15%.
Just don't share your info with anyone who asks. It's your personal information. Good luck and I hope the best for you both.
