You only need just one (1) WIFI USB (about US$20; NT$650 here in Taiwan), installed the accompanied driver then go to any hotspots area like McDonalds or most modern Airports. Some are easy to connect with hotspots without any IP configurations because they are allowing it for free!

When already installed go to any hotspot area (though they don't have any sign), plug the WIFI USB. Something will place on your system tray. Double click and it will list all available connections, highlight and click to connect!

Good luck and enjoy surfing while eating!

Some phone companies offer wireless internet cards that connect to your own private connection for a fee. If you put a wireless card into your computer you can also connect to any unsecure wireless connection. Many Starbucks and schools have wireless connections available or your nextdoor neighbor might have an unsecure connection that your laptop can connect to if within range.

wireless router and a wireless internet card, they plug in to the side.

A modem is what you need to connect internet to a home computer, but instead buy a wireless router and keep the modem so plug the internet from the modem into the wireless router then buy another cable abd plug it into the wireless router then to the computer , then plug the wireless internet card into the other computer (Laptop) and locate the wireless router internet form your laptop. (this can be found on how to do it in the instructions the wireless card came with.)

check for WiFi availiability in ur area if yes, invest in a WiFi PCMCIA card and ur laptop is capable of connecting to an Internet Service Provider wirelessly. if WiFi transmission is not availiable in ur area, invest in a DATA card and its kind of slow but u'll have internet almost everywhere.
