This race is going to be a lot of fun to watch. Why not the Marlins? It will be the team that gets hot in the next 25-26 games. The Reds got smoked on their West Coast trip and look to be done. The Marlins have 7 games left with the Mets in September. Ouch! The Padres have 4 left with the Dodgers and 3 with the Cardinals. The Phillies have 9 games left with the Marlins. I think the answer is the Marlins would really have to earn this thing with 7 games against the Mets and 9 against the Phillies in their remaining 26 games. I think the Padres may have a slight edge right now, but the Marlins are the hottest team at the moment. If they stay hot through the next 10 games they could be at the top of the wild card standings.

This is hard to tell, they are over achieving, due to the fact their budget is only 14 Million, and have a lot of young inexperienced young players. Cabrera and Willis are proven winners but might be too little come crunch time.

I hope they win it, and if they do watch out they are yet to lose a play off series perfect 6-0 including two World Series 1997 & 2003. Did I mention both times they got in as Wild Cards?

I'm a Miami resident so I might have a biased opinion, anyhow
Go Marlins!

As an update, remarkable comeback I just came from te satadium, it was worth it!

Its hard to say. They have a harder schedule than the Reds and Padres but they've been great during the second half so its possible. I'd say its most likely that the Padres win it but it would make a great story if the Marlins did make it.

Sadly, no. Their young players will not do good down the stretch. My wild card pick is the Padres. Piazza has a bunch of power and Peavy is my fantasy ace any day.

I hope they do but i think it is very unlikely. They are kind of like the Indians of last year, very young and inexperianced and didnt know how to handle the situation. I think they will end the season 500 and a possible playoff push but the inexperiace will hurt them when its over.
