Depends on the size of the Unit - almost 2 pounds to almost 4-Pounds,,BUTT IF the FAN is NOT working U will get BOTH high & Low side readings.IF the Condenser doesn't have AIR FLOW across it , then U will have this Problem & when U put 2 much freon in- YOUR cooling will get worse.

Every car has a different amount of freon and gas level.

When you say high pressure it means you have more gas than freon and the gas needs to be "bled" out to get a better mixture ratio of freon to gas.

under your hood u should have a sticker describing which freon (r12 r134a) ur car is using. if u r converting r12 to r 134athe rule of thumb is only 80-85% ( 1 lb r12 converts to 14 oz r134a) if u use to much it will not cooldown.
