If you are in Safe Mode you will see the effects that you speak of. You'll know if you are if you have a colour desktop displayed, it will have a reduced number of colours in the display. Also, if your computer has started recently in Safe Mode, it may not of readjusted the settings to take account of the resolution that you're in now. To change the resolution back to how it was before, right click on any area of the desktop, and click on Properties. Click on the Settings tab, and then adjust the moveable bar at the bottom left of your screen to whatever resolution you wish to be in. I use 1,024 x 768, but that may be a little small for you. You can also adjust the number of colours that your screen is able to display. (To the right of the slider that you've just adjusted, there's a drop down list indicating how many colours should be displayed. I have mine set to 32-bit, but there's also the option to display at 16-bit (65,000 colours).

Click on the Apply button (bottom right of the screen), and then OK to exit the desktop settings.

Are things alright now? If not, you may need to reinstall your graphics drivers. If that's the case, just drop me an email and I'll get back to you.

Hi
The display resolution of your PC might have changed. If this is the case, you need to right click on an empty area on your desktop > select the last option of the drop down menu "Properties" > A dialogue box pops up > select the last option "Settings" > Now you must see a scroll bar which changes the display resolution. > If you increase the resolution, everything will become smaller.
Hope this helps!

Go to the "View" icon at the top of your page. Then go to "toolbars", then "customise" . A box will come up and at the bottom of this rectangular box there will be a drop down box which says "icon options".. change it to small and it should go back to normal!

You may have loaded in a programme that's changed the settings it's self.

Just right click on your desktop and click the settings tab and you'll be able to change your screen resolution in there.
